EV Charger Installation, Done Properly
Home and workplace EV charger installs, wired to the switchboard's actual capacity — not just bolted to the nearest wall. If the board needs an upgrade first, we'll tell you before you pay for anything.
Getting an EV charger installed?
Common situations we install into.
- New EV or plug-in hybrid arriving and charging off a regular powerpoint isn't cutting it
- Existing switchboard is old, full, or undersized for a fast charger
- Want load management so the charger and the rest of the house don't fight for capacity
- Workplace or strata property wanting to add EV charging for staff or residents
- Charger already bought and just need it professionally wired in
Why get it wired properly
Faster, safer charging
A dedicated circuit sized to the charger's actual draw charges faster and safer than a general-purpose powerpoint.
Protects your switchboard
We check capacity first — an undersized board gets flagged and fixed before the charger goes in, not after.
Warranty-safe installation
Professional installation keeps most EV charger manufacturer warranties intact.
Load management available
Smart chargers can be set up to avoid tripping the main switch when everything else in the house is running.
What's included
Every install includes a capacity check first, then:
- Switchboard capacity assessment
- Dedicated circuit & cabling
- Charger mounting & wiring
- Load management setup where applicable
- Compliance certificate on completion
- Switchboard upgrade if required (quoted separately)
Caught an undersized board before it became a problem
A client had already bought their wall charger and wanted it up before their new EV arrived. A quick capacity check on site found the existing switchboard didn't have the headroom to run a fast charger alongside the rest of the house without nuisance tripping. Rather than bolt it on and let them find that out the hard way, we quoted the board upgrade alongside the charger install, ran the dedicated circuit, and set up load management so the charger backs off automatically if the house draws hard elsewhere.
Charges properly, doesn't trip the main switch at dinner time, and the manufacturer warranty stayed intact because it was installed by a licensed electrician from the start.
