Our story

One team, four services

Hood Global Pty Ltd, trading as Hood Electrical, is a licensed electrical, AV, security and network trade business. Over 25+ years the work has grown from general electrical into home theatre and TV installs, licensed security systems, and Wi‑Fi/network upgrades — plus a hospitality wing that's delivered network and AV rollouts for national hotel groups. For internet plans and ongoing managed network solutions specifically, that side of the business now runs under Better Net.

Licensed & fully insured

About our director

Meet Shane

The person who quotes the job is the person who turns up to do it — here's a bit more about how that came to be.

Shane Hood, owner of Hood Electrical

I started out as a comms tech — installing phone lines, data, TVs and antennas — picking up experience along the way with names like Telstra, Ausgrid, Lendlease, Downer, Harvey Norman Commercial, Dick Smith Mobile, Tech Experts and Geeks2U, and later working alongside CBRE, Precision Fire, LPG Fire, Silant, Rivernet, Streamvision, NBN, Shopper Media, Soniq Commercial, AVMS, Complete AV and Mandoe Media — just to name a few.

But being the comms guy wasn't enough. I kept hearing “while you're here, can you also do this power point?” and having to say no because I wasn't licensed. So I bit the bullet, completed a mature‑age electrical trade with Ausgrid, and the rest is history.

These days I'm best known for getting your internet from A to B to C to D and making sure it's rock solid — I genuinely love it. Whatever the job, I want you to feel heard and understood first, confident in the solution second, and like we actually made a difference by the time we leave.

My wife and I moved to Wilton for a different pace of life, away from the hustle of the city — we love the nature, the people, and it's a genuine pleasure to serve this community. For specialised work I bring in trusted subcontractors — antenna and roof installers, high‑end AV and PA specialists, commercial electricians and data specialists — so every job gets the right expertise, not just whoever's available that week.

Autumn Park, Mittagong — four years and counting. A large property with multiple connected outbuildings that I've looked after for four years now. I monitor connections and speeds remotely and replace gear showing early signs of failure before it lets the homeowner down — these days I feel like part of the furniture there.

“Anything is possible with enough time and money.”

— Shane Hood, Director

Away from work: three kids, a very supportive wife, one dog and two chickens. Days off usually mean tinkering with remote control cars and boats — and any excuse to get to the beach or out in the bush.
